Talking Products for the Blind


I love doing searches on the Internet.
Most automatically go to Google for information
but there are a myriad of other search engines
that can yield interesting and useful results.

Yesterday, I did a search at Amazon for products for the visually impaired. I am not visually impaired, luckily I still have pretty good vision, although my reading glasses get stronger and stronger every year. But I do have a sister who was born with weak eyesight and eventually became legally blind.

Several years ago, she mentioned to me that she had lost her special alarm clock, it had braille on the face. So when Christmas time came that year, I knew what to get her. I did have a hard time finding something that fit the description she gave me of the clock she had lost. Eventually, I managed to find something at an obscure, ugly little website.

I think next time I want to get her something special I will choose a talking product instead of something with braille. I think she would get a kick out of that and it would be easy for her to use.
